BBA 9 ‘Hotshots': There’s still hope!

M-Net has confirmed that Big Brother Africa Hotshots will begin airing from next month after new studios were found following a fire that razed the Johannesburg home where the show was to be produced

The ninth season of Big Brother Africa Hotshots was due to start airing today at 7pm on DSTV until a fire gutted the Sasani Studios in Highlands North, Johannesburg, this week where 24-hour filming was supposed to take place.

On Friday, the channel announced that a new studio had been found, but would not confirm where the new Big Brother House would be situated.

“M-Net and Endemol SA have spent the last 48 hours searching both locally and internationally for a venue in which to produce Season 9 of the highly popular Big Brother Africa reality show.

“After exploring all possible options, the team are delighted to announce that the show will go on as a venue has been found to get the show on air within the next month,” a statement released on Friday by M-Net and Endemol, who produces the show, read.

“A multitude of factors have had to be considered including the complex technical requirements, logistics, technical crews and satellite link facilities which have all formed part of the challenge.

“However, M-Net is delighted to assure all its Big Brother fans that their favourite reality show will launch soon and thanks fans from across the continent for their support during the last two days. “

Multichoice Africa Spokesperson Caroline Creasy toldCity Press that they had been inundated with calls from as far as Nigeria, with fans offering their homes as a location.

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is still unknown.
